Hi,

I read this post about motherboards being upside down in cases and being bad
for temperature... (overheating of the chipset)

Like the Lian Li V1100 and V2100.

What is ment with upside down ?

1. Does this mean the motherboard is placed horizontal but the chipset and
fans are pointing down to earth ? (preventing air flow to go up)

or

2. Does this mean the motherboard is placed vertical (as usual within
towers) but somehow it's upside down ?

What would be the good way and wrong way to place a motherboard inside a
tower ?

Can somebody take some pictures of the "good" and "wrong" way and post them
somewhere ?

Bye,
Skybuck.

This is a problem ONLY for the A8N-SLI Premium which uses heatpipe
cooling of the nVidia southbridge. It's no problem at all for devices
that use traditional heatsinks with fans. It may or may not be a
problem for some other cooling devices with heatpipes in them.

Your number 2 is correct. In the Lian Li cases in question, the
motherboard is mounted on the right side of the case (looking at it
from the back; the left side looking at it from the front). Since the
PCI slots must still be at the rear, this results in a vertical
motherboard in which the components that are traditionally nearer the
top are now nearer the bottom.

You don't really need photos. Just Google to a few sites that sell
Lian Li cases or find the Lian Li Web site, and you'll find photos of
these cases that should make it crystal clear.

If you're considering an A8N-SLI Premium, then forget about these Lian
Li cases. You'd incinerate your nice new mobo, and, besides, I think
they're all aluminum (not sure) and therefore far from the quietest
case you can get. For an A8N-SLI Premium, think long and hard about
an Antec P180 which I believe is as close to flawless as the art of
case design has thus far progressed.

I did that... I can only see pictures of Lian Li cases who are empty...

It would help to see a Lian Lia case with a motherboard inside ;)

Ok thanks, I appreciate your tip, I'll check it out ;) =D

Ok my first question is...

How does air get into the "air filter doors on the front"

It seems the case is completely shut at the front ?
