Hi
I have a new AMD2800, 7vm400m-rz motherboard, onoard graphics.
The problem is the text display on the PC is weak, a bit faded.
I have the latest drivers installed and have used clear type to no avail as
it blurs it too much with a green tinge. Clear type download was no good
either.

Would a better motherboard help, or a video card help to darken the text to
give it a normal look.

The PC shop didnt sound too keen in helping me out much as they just
suggested brightness/contrast which didnt help
 
Sounds like you've got a problem with your
monitor. Post back with what it is and perhaps
someone can advise you, but frankly it sounds
like the monitor is on its way out.

no the monitor works fine. we just switched a P4 and the text works fine on
this monitor with clear text. we double checked this .
it is the onboard graphics with a cheap motherboard.
 
I'd take the motherboard back and exchange it for another one or upgrade to a
better board. You shouldn't have to pay for a manufacturer's deficiency,i.e.
installing a video card. You paid for the onboard graphics.

If it can be clearly shown that the new motherboards onboard graphics is
causing the problem - and the above swap test seems to confirm that
(assuming the same resolution, colour depth and refresh rate were selected)
then you should be able to get the motherboard retailer to replace it with
another. The justification would be that the supplied product isn't fit for
the purpose it was originally sold to you for. One of the big differences
between how quality graphics cards and cheapie cheapie units do their thing
is the display quality when looking at text. You could always try larger
font sizes if you have visual impairment but if that doesn't help (or isn't
your thing), then a replacement should be the way to go. I hope the shop is
willing to see it this way - having all the bits and pieces with the
motherboard, the receipt and original packaging etc will likely make them
much more receptive to the idea.

you may want to download cleartype from microsofts website. its a power toy
that makes text crisper and darker. give that a shot
