I am about to change out my old motherboard (with a
Pentium 233 MMS and 256 mB RAM) to a motherboard that
uses an Athlon XP 1600+ (1.4gHz) processor. I am running
Windows XP Professional. Will XP adjust to my new
motherboard OK? (I am not changing the HD, CD, CD-RW,
AGP).

You will need to do a in-place reinstall/repair so the
correct drivers are installed for the change from Intel to
AMD.

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.),
you'll need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade)
installation, at the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.

This will probably also require re-activation. If it's been more
than 120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key,
you'll most likely be able to activate via the internet without
problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone
call.

Greetings --

Yes. All legitimate retail WinXP installation CDs are bootable.

I suggest running SYSPREP -before- shutting down and replacing the
motherboard. (see deploy.cab on XP CD)
I changed the m/b on my machine and a Repair install didn`t work!!!
