I replaced my motherboard and processor. The version of
XP Pro I am using is an upgrade version. When I begin the
repair process for reinstalling XP Pro, I get a message
that the qualifying program (2000 Pro) cannot be found and
to insert that disk. 2000 then wants me to reinstall
after repartitioning the hd. Help!

Is this how you tried a Repair Installation?

Windows Updates will need to be reinstalled.
Data should be safe, back-up important data just in case.
Install Service Pack first and by itself.
Then install ALL Critical Updates no more than 4 at a time,

Disconnect the network/modem cable before starting repair and do NOT
reconnect the cable until repair is completed and firewall is
installed/enabled.
