Hello All:

Installed a P4G800 E- Deluxe not too long ago and have been having
problems with the system shutting down (usually happens when exiting
programs) just like you shut the power off. It reboots automatically
but you can hear the hd spooling up.

Here the catch, I reused the same 80g hd that I had in my old
computer. The old hd always worked great but now running chkdsk it
finds problems. I use the "f" switch, rerun chkdsk again and it still
finds problems. I have reloaded XP twice so far to no avail.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Terry

Go to the manufactories web site for the hard drive and download the
diagnostic program and test the hard drive. I just sent a Maxtor drive back
it gave a error code and they are sending me a new drive. They have a three
year warranty on the drive. You can check the XP error log in admin and see
if windows restart itself. It will do that if it has a system error.

Did any tweaking such as fine-tuning the memory settings or
some over-clocking? If so, re-configure the bios settings to
the default values in the manual.
