A friend of mine gave me his PC to take a look at, heres the problem:

XP Home loads to the point of the XP Logo screen then the blue bar
freezes and thats it!!

Tried safe mode but that stops on Mup.sys

Tried fully formatting and re-loading XP Home... gets to the same point
again and freezes AGAIN!

Removed HDD put into my "test" PC and it worked a treat!!!

Tried replacing Video Card, RAM, all no go!!

Tried upgrading firmware, and setting fail-safe defaults but still no
avail!!

I can't remember the exact type of board it is but here are the specs:

Intel Celeron 700, Epox Mobo -3V series, 192mb SDRAM, 80Gb HDD, XP Home

Any ideas?

BTW: I advised my friend it is a hardware issue with the Mobo and he'd
be better off buying a new PC...

Before I take a stab at answering your question how did you reload XP if the
system won't boot XP?

try reinstalling XP but with standard ACPI so that IRQ sharing is disabled?
