Can someone tell me what this mean:

I have a athlon 200xp.

In the bios there is a setting for 1.2,1.67 , 2000hmz.

put it on 2000hmz and got this.

system memory can only operate at frequency higher then or equal to the cpu frontside bus frequency. Please make sure memory is not less 333.

Try the pc at a higer speed and just got a blank screen.

is there anyway i can get 2000hmz without messing with the board

thanks

its all to with your FSB, as its Athlon 2000XP
im very sure u need to set the FSB to 266mhz as that is what this CPU runs on

try moving your FSB headers so that the bus speed is 266

An Athlon XP2000 runs stock at 1.667Ghz. It has an fsb speed of 333 (2 x 166).

Yours will not run at 2.0Ghz unless you overclock and unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't go there right now.

Your multiplier speed should be 10 and your memory speed should be set to 166. You will probably find both settings in the Bios, but I'm not sure as I don't know what motherboard you have.

Change to the above settings and you should be OK.

Sorry, not familiar with the Bios in that board,I've only ever built two systems with Asus boards one's in Glastonbury and the other is about three miles away ;).

I noticed in your first post you said there was a setting for 1.67Ghz - try that.

If not, search through all Bios sections and it should be obvious which settings you have to change.

Good luck.

i got a XP2200 flops and im sure it runs at 266FSB so im sure that xp2000 will run at 266fsb

what i presume is that they both can run on 266 and 333

Well pointed out, psd99, thanks for the heads up :thumb:

I'm guessing that if his motherboard Bios has set configurations for different CPU speeds, it should all be automatic setup anyway, so here's hoping :)

OK, I been thinking, is there PC2100 RAM in this setup? That would be the hiccup, wouldn't it?

Lemme see then, Bios RAM settings should be auto or 133 and CPU setting should be 12.5 x 133 = 1.66Ghz.

Which means I made a mistake in my earlier post, which I will edit out. The multiplier for 1.66Ghz at 166fsb should have been 10, not 12.5 as I stated. Obviously :o

Oh dear, I feel bad, I am gonna whup myself, whup myself bad
