Hi all.

I have used Intel, VIA, and even had a MB with a SIS chipset.

Any opinions on the new Asus boards with the ATI chipset? I am looking to
upgrade a PIII mini tower and have tripped over the P4R800-VM with the ATI
chipset as a MB to base the system on. Never knew ATI made one...relatively
cheap too. About $100.00-$120.00 CDN

http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4r800-vm/overview.htm

Looking for an all-in-one board, but if you can offer any opinions of other
boards similar, but different chipset, please post.

Read the comments in this group. The ATI chipset and BIOS code aren't
trouble free.

What are the problems? I did a search of the 2527 messages and came up only
with messages referring to ATI video cards. Plus mine, and your message too
:)

I like to see a few "no problems here" type posts, before recommending a
board. If drivers/BIOS are immature enough to be letting the users
down, then the best hardware in the world is not worth having.

These days, there is no excuse for a mobo to be a big experiment. There
are too many good boards that work out of the box.
