Sue B.

I am running IE6 on WindowsXP and suddenly unable to go to
most web sites. The following will display in the address
bar where I'm trying to go to www.stmarys-saginaw.org:

C:\WINDOWS\ucbrtrssssiess.htm#http://www.stmarys-
saginaw.org/

This happens with most web sites but not all. I can go to
msn and cnn for example. Two out of three newly networked
computers are showing the same symptoms about 1 day after
the wireless network was installed and operational. All
help much appreciated!!

Hi Sue,

Tony has offered the best of help on this matter, so I hope you will have
seen it. Once you've done that your problem should be cured. Then see this:

Hi Sue,

Go to Start > Run Regedit, and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL

The default value for the "DefaultPrefix" subkey should be: http://

and for the "Prefixes" subkey:

ftp = ftp://
gopher = gopher://
home = http://
mosaic = http://
www = http://

If it isn't, change it.

MS-MVP Sandi Hardmeier is offering a reg file that will do that for you, if you so desire.
Download it here (in zipped form):
