Is there a freeware plugin for word which will allow you to specify the
number of most recently used docs in the FILE menu? I need to consult a wide
range of documents quickly, and the 9 you get is not enough.

general tab and the check mark is
there. You can please yourself.
No need for any plugin.

Not on my version of word. As I mentioned, it only gives you 9 MRUDs.

Maybe TaskTracker 143K, Win2k/XP
<http://tasktracker.wordwisesolutions.com/>

"{Quick file find / management} In the Start menu, you get a short list
of your recently used documents (if you have it on). It occasionally
comes in handy, but I never thought much about it until I tried
TaskTracker. The utility lists the major file types such as file folder,
jpeg image, HTML doc, Excel, Word, and so on. Click on any of the items
to get a list of the recently opened items for that file type. Click on
Word Docs and this file I'm working on appears along with the docs I've
opened within the past two weeks. You can change the timeframe anywhere
from all dates to today. If you want to open a file, you can do that
from the list. It's one of those programs where you have to try it to
see its power."

Thanks for the suggestion. Will my PC die if I try to install it on WIN 98
2nd edition?

EDEB

I've been told that TaskTracker does not work with Win98 - only XP/2000.
