Most annoying thing ever!

OK two things,

1.
When IE is offline, why won't MSN sign in? Or, why can't the error
message have a "go online" button. Making users start another
application it just silly.

2. Why can't I exit MSN when outlook is open (and if you use Active Sync
outlook is always open). The only way is via the task manager, and even
when I do it doesn't seem to effect Outlook in anyway.

Does this amount to lazy programming, or are they other reasons ?

I never understood this either. In the end the way i avoided it was to
stop using outlook express in exchance for Thunderbird, stop using IE
in place of firefox, and stop using MSN Messanger, use gaim insted.

1. sadly, windows is internet explorer (sic). msn rides on windows and
uses internet explorer (sic) to connect to the internet so if internet
explorer is set off-line (safe) then msn is off-line and can't connect.

2. outlook uses msn to manage your 'online presense' making msn active.

I agree with sparda, use add/remove programs and dump outlook and active
sync, remove messenger both from your hard drive and registry so it
can't run. Use firefox, thunderbird and trillian for your web, email,
and instant messaging requirements.

Thanks for the replies.

I do currently use Firefox, however I needed to test a Java app in
Internet Explorer and for some reason ended up putting it in offline
mode. It just seems to be so lazy to me, all that is needed is a "do you
want to go online?" message!

I also made the mistake of installing Messenger Plus the other day. What
a load of over-hyped rubbish! The toolbar wouldn't uninstall (thank you
Microsoft Antispyware Beta 1 for saving the day) and it wad full of
bugs! Yuck!

I assume the other MSN clients don't support custom emotions or icons ?

IMHO Putting internet explorer into an off-line mode is almost the best
thing you can do for your computer...

I don't know about supporting custom emotions or icons, sorry...
