I just did a clean install of Win XP home edition, and I have been having problems with every game I have installed thus far, but at least the error is consistent: about 5 mins after starting the game, the soundcard (Audigy 2 ZS) will let loose a high pitched, looped sound effect, sometimes including other sounds as well, and the game will freeze. Only way to recover is a hard boot. Disabling the soundcard does not work, all drivers are current, tried altering hardware acceleration settings, video settings, and DirectX settings to no avail. Also disabled/removed adware, spyware, unnecessary programs, but still nothing. The following is all the info I can get from event viewer. Please help!

Hi dprowe,

That's quite a situation, especially since disabling the card didn't help.
Do you have onboard sound you can use instead of your sound card?
If so, physically remove the sound card from your system as a test.
