I where asked the other day about Comparison between two car manufactures > Morris minor-1000 and Austin A40

In my experience which is the better of the two, why you may ask yourself, well I will tell you.the guy wanted to purchase one of the two aformentioned. My answer.

A couple of examples> replacing a clutch> Morris 1000 remove the following> the gear shift> the centre console/floor 24 brass screws [if you can get them out]> bell housing bolts> starter motor> prop shaft> clutch rod> engine mounting nuts>and all the other bits and bobs> raise the engine> remove gear box [without cutting or taking your fingers off] replace clutch> re-assemble in reverse order, time taken [if your lucky] 5.5 Hrs.

A40 replacing a clutch> remove the following> the gear shift> bell housing bolts> starter motor> prop shaft> clutch slave cylinder> remove gear box>

Replace clutch> re-assemble in reverse order, time taken 2.5 Hrs:D

Morris 1000 replacing/repair brake master cylinder> remove> carpet off side front> floor panel> push rod> brake pipes> master cylinder mounting bolts attached through the chassis> replace/repair master cylinder> re-assemble in reverse order, time taken 2.5 Hrs:eek:

A40 replacing/repair brake master cylinder> remove> brake pipes> pedal push rod> two master cylinder mounting bolts> replace/repair master cylinder> re-assemble in reverse order, time taken 35 Mins:D .

And they say the Morris 1000 is the better…. HUH!!! Could have fooled me.

PS the engine/gear box/all running gear are the same on both models.

Had me an A40 not that long ago, used to drive it everyday ... no seat belts, cheap road tax & cheap to insure ... you had to drive properly.

The back break slave cylinders gave out

Fortunately I as parking in my drive at the time, could not figure out at first why I hit the house and then rolled back into the street ... soon became apparent what was wrong though. ;)

Gave it away, could not get any replacments. :(

That... and - to be specifific - the word "comparison" came up. And "Austin". Not to mention "Morris". So... here we go again:

Allegro vs. Marina
