I have a note-book computer. I asked the question last
time,:
when I try to put my computer in (standby or hypernate)
it shows an error message: "need to down-load new driver
for "generic 56".
The answer that I got from the "MVP" for why I was
getting that error message was to "contact the maker of
my computer".
Well I did. They told me it has to do with the fact that
it's not compatible with "Windows XP".
I don't get it? It worked fine before!!!
Can any MVP tell me if this is true? Or am a getting
a "snow job" from my computer company.... Which
is "LanPlus!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Why do they always blame it on the XP?
Is it true what everyone says in this newsgroup (or at
least what I've heard alot of so far) that XP is in need
of a big OVER-HAUL???
Help please : I just miss using my "hypernate". It's a
pain to have to go through "start-up" everytime I want to
use my computer.

Microsoft does not design hardware drivers. They rely on hardware
manufacturers to design and supply Windows XP compatible drivers.
If your laptop manufacturer does not wish to design drivers for
Windows XP, then you are just plain out of luck. An "over-haul"
of Windows XP is not going to do you any good if your laptop
manufacturer refuses to design updated, Windows XP compatible
drivers. Laptop computers require specialized drivers that only
the laptop manufacturer can furnish.

Did you visit the support website of "LanPlus!" and see if there
are any updated Windows XP compatible drivers available? Is
there a BIOS update available?

.
I bought this computer with Windows XP on it. It's 7
months old. Someone in another question did answer some
of my questions so if any one has this problem you might
want to check your memory space. I'm going to try their
ADVICE and I'll post it if it works.
To the FIXER who corrected me on my spelling. Get a
life...I like to see what some of your spelling looks
like in your e-mails.Some people just "hate"...Peace,
DooCee

Spellchecker in OE is not standalone. You must have MS Office installed or
the Word or Publisher component installed or have Microsoft Works installed
in order for OE spell-check to function.
