it's probably very simple but I can't seem to find it. How do I tell Outlook
2003 to recognize that there is already an open instance running when I open
it via a shortcut. I'd like it to just open the one that is currently
running and not a new complete copy of the program.

thanks

Add the /recycle parameter to the command used to load outlook.exe. For
a list of command-line parameters (aka switches) for Outlook:

- Go to http://support.microsoft.com/.
- Advanced search on "switches" for Outlook 2002 (nothing shows up for
Outlook 2003 - go figure).
- Voila! "OL2002: Additional Command-Line Switches", KB article 296192.

Other switches that may come in handy are: /safe, /resetfolders,
/cleanreminders.
