I have a small business network (17 users) that requires simple file sharing
across the LAN -- Full permissions for all users. XP only allows 10
networked users for file sharing is there a way to increase this user total
to 17.

want to clarify not looking for a work around as much as the simplest
solution - introducing Server 2003 is an option but just dont need the
complecity of the 03 server. ALl we are doing is simple file sharing.

You would seem to have 2 options:

1. Install a server. And if you use Server 2003 then you will need
to ensure that you have 17 Client Access Licenses - the basic package
only provides 10 CALs. A Linux server would be an alternative.

2. Install a Network Attached Storage device and use that for all of
your shared files. See

some product reviews.
