I have been running XP Home for about 2 years, but
suddenly after the most recent round of updates all
system tray icons (like my Network Ice Firewall)
disappeared, with the exception of Norton AV. It appears
that some programs, like for instance the firewall are
starting up automatically and arerunning, but I would
like to be able to see at a glance what the status is via
the normal system tray icon. Other programs that usually
start automatically at boot do not seem to be running
however
I got the system tray working with a reinstall of XP, but
then when all the many updates that demand installing
were implemented the system tray had quit again. This
time I fixed it by going back to a restore point.
However I am now running without all the security, etc.
updates from the past two years.
Has anybody else encountered this problem and found a
solution ?
