Hi there,

I suppose this is more really more for information than help, but
having said that any ideas/comments would be more than welcome !

In a previous post, I mentioned that in my system I have two IDE
drives and 2 SATA setups (RAID 0 and Raid 1), my operating System
(Windows XP Pro being on the SATA drive), whereas I use the IDE drives
for storage.
The 2 IDE drives are NOT part of the 'roll back' either, I excluded
them from the monitoring !

My previous post mentioned that one of the IDE drives, that stored all
my music/videos on it still had all its folders but EVERY folder
(singles/albums, home videos etc.) was EMPTY !
I was advised to run 'chkdsk', which I did, but this had no effect
whatsoever, and in the end I ran a program I bought a while ago :
"Recover My Files" which fortunately recovered them all to my spare
SATA drive, which I then copied them back onto the IDE drive, so all
was well !

Now I turned my attention to the other IDE drives, on which I store
all my PDA (Windows 2003SE, Palm & Symbian) programs, and also stuff
waiting to be burned to CD/DVD.

What has happened here amazed me !
The first main folder on the tree where all my stuff waiting to be
burned to CD/DVD, had all the folders there but they were EMPTY !!!
The second main folder on the tree where all my Windows 2003SE
programs were once again ALL EMPTY !
By this I mean ALL exe, html, txt files etc. were GONE !

The remaining 11 main folders on the tree were OK and totally
untouched.
The last folder on the tree is all my Windows XP programs, which I
have bought over many years, and have exe programs as well, were OK.

It seems as if it systematically selected JUST the 1st two main
folders !
I have checked the folders that followed (the next one being labelled
Jornda 720, then my Nokia programs, etc.) and they are OK.
I have backups of everything except the stuff I was going to burn to
CD/DVD, and "Recover My Files" was no help in this case, so I have
lost them all !

This stuff has been on my computer for years and years with no
problem, and this has happened the same day as Windoze XP SP3 was
installed (and no other programs) so it MUST be to do with it !!!

I wish I had never updated, but this was done via AUTO update when I
wasn't there, so really I had no choice ... Microsoft has a lot to
answer for, and looking at other comments in here I am not the only
one with problems, making me wonder if they ever properly tested it
...... grrrrrrrr......

Comments/ideas please ????

Regards,

Steve
