More Newsgroups Server - General Topics

Dear All,

Does anyone know more newsgroups server (free) on general topics other than
msnews.microsoft.com. I am bit a new to newsgroups so just don't know where
& how to locate other newsservers.

Second is What is Usenet?

Nearly all newsgroups are free if you can find a news server that
provides them. The first place to look is your Internet Service Provider
- nearly all provide access to a large number of groups (mine's got over
40,000).

1 - Can I join your newsgroup server i.e of your ISP?
2 - Can you provide me some good list (upto 5) of NNTP newsserver like
msnews.microsoft.com

No. Like most ISPs, access is restricted to subscribers. Contact your
ISP's customer service.

No, I can't - msnews is the only server I currently connect to other
than my ISPs.

However, you can access nearly the entire Usenet through Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/

The downside with Google is that posts are delayed 3 to 12 hours.
