No need to open a new thread.

So you're using a DVD writer on the Promise? Not a good idea. Promise
controllers are good for hard drives, but in terms of ATAPI stuff
they're "YMMV devices" (if burning works at all, the CPU load is very
high). Since UDMA33 is plenty for a DVD burner, use the onboard IDE for
it instead. And BTW, try the latest drivers available for the
Ultra100/133 TX2, 2.00 build 42. They may not work with all hard drives,
but are certainly worth a try (1.60 build 36 would no longer work
flawlessly with Win2k SP4 here, but 2.00 build 42 does).

Microcode for newer CPUs, 10x multiplier bug fixed.

Thanks I am on 2.0 build 18 and am in process of moving DVDRW to IDE.

Is that BIOS 2.00 build 18 (IIRC the last one available for the Ultra66)
or the drivers 2.00 build 18? I'd update the latter to build 42.
Looks
like that in my box it will have to be paired with my DVD drive unless I do
a major rebuild.

You could try using the DVD-ROM drive on the Promise and the burner on
the onboard IDE - unless you also had trouble with the DVD-ROM on the
Promise, that is.
I am including a link to an article and would appreciate
your comments as to whether this might be a problem for me also.

The VTT issues do not affect the P2B AFAIK.

The Promise is 2 build 18.(will try 42) Did a clean install of XP Pro and
had to do it twice as it locked during 1st attempt. Then locked on 1st
attempt to Decrypt. My guess is memory or mb is bad. Will try memory first.

Thanks for all the imput. Jimbo
