When moving frequently from page to page on the web or
when downloading a file, the connection remains no matter
how long it takes. It's only when there is a period of
idle while reading an article or, as just happpened,
while typing a message like this without moving to
another web page. It seems that as long as there is data
coming in over the line, the connection holds.

Again, any ideas will be appreciated.

This is a music group not an internet group !

But since you're here, off we go.

Start > Connect to > right click on your default connection > Properties >
Options > Change : "Idle Time before Hanging up" to Never > click OK and you
should be fixed.

Cheers,
Jerry

Jerry,

Sent the following by regular email but it came back.

Sorry about the intrusion. Didn't realize there were
different groups.

"Idle time before hanging up" is not and never has been
checked, except once when I set it for 59 minutes and
still got disconnected in a minute or two. Neither is or
has the "Disconnect when connection may no longer be
needed" been checked.

However, thanks for your response. I'll try to get into
the right group.
