I wonder if Panasonic lasers are still available. I have KX-P6150, which is
only 300dpi, but still works perfect for many years now (i do use it
occasionally however, since i use color one more often). If you can get
model 6300 (600dpi) or 6500 (1200 dpi), even better. Those lasers used to
have the cheapest cost per printed page. I don't know about type of
connection, mine is still old and so it has LPT port.

Have just bought a Samsung ML-1750 laser printer for £105. After
reading many reviews, and having had a Canon S820 that went duff after
only 18 months, I decided that as most of my printing was black only,
I'd go for a laser for reliability and low running costs.

The ML-1750 is 1200 x 600 dpi, with 16 ppm output, USB 2.0 and
parallel inputs, and has a proper paper drawer (250 sheets), with the
paper coming out flat on top like a "real" laser printer.

M1750

After reading reviews from many happy owners of the previous ML-1710
model (600 dpi), I decided to buy this at the very reasonable price
(for the UK) from Insight (see link).
