I would like to improve the photo quality printing of this printer and
want to disable the bi-directional feature on glossy paper.
Is it possible?
I have tried some combinations of papers and print speed but the
printing mode is always the same :(

Thanks in advance!

I use the Canon i960 and feel that the photo quality is quite good. When
these printers were new in the marketplace independant reviews touted them
as one of the best photo printers on the market. I believe that the
bi-directional feature, shich is used at higher resolution settings,
accounts for the highest quality photo prints of which this printer is
capable. The best prints are those made on either photo matte, satin
surface, or glossy papers. Selecting plain paper in the driver automatically
selects a faster but lower quality print. Other than selecting the paper
choice in the driver or manually selecting the print quality, I don't know
how you would alter the print speed. Also, if you print out of the Canon
easy print program that came with the printer, it overrides certain settings
you make in the driver.

I hope I didn't imply that the Canon easy print program was one I would
recommend! It is a basic, dumbed down program that is designed for people
who are not very computer literate. What I described was the use of this
program overriding settings in the printer driver software that are very
valuable to use. Everyone has his/her favorite program for photo
manipulation and printing. I use Photoshop Elements and am very happy with
both its photo management and printing capabilities. The few prints I made
with the Canon program were totally unsatisfactory when compared to the
prints I made with Photoshop elements.
