I just found my computer got hit by Monkey_A virus when booting up this
morning. I noticed the CD Rom drive (D drive) went disappeared in Windows
98. I can see this drive if I boot from floppy, but the C drive just gone
this time. I cannot copy files from floppy in Windows 98. Is there any
softwares of programs that fit on floopy run in DOS mode to fix rescue my
computer?

Thanks for your reply. Do I need to have McAfee emergency disk that I don't
have an anti virus programs installed?

I think my friend transferred a file using an old floppy disk.

Now you know to distrust ALL floppies ALWAYS!
At my work, a consultant used a contaminated floppy on one of my
workstations!
He doesn't work here any more.

Use xMonkey. No beed for an emergency boot disk, xMonkey runs directly from the
infected drive.

Available from http://invircible.com/iv_tools.php

Read the instructions on the page before using.

You can get a bootable disk from a number of sources. Try a search on
altavista or yahoo.
Presumably you have an AV program installed which told you you have Monkey
A. Don't you have a rescue disk from that?

Thanks for all the help that I received from here. I don't have a rescue
disk but I do have a clean boot disk that wll boot with CD. I also managed
to download xMonkey and Killmonk 3 from the internet along with McAfee
Bootscan. I will give them each one a try soon. I hope this is the end of my
nightmare.

THANKS!

That's a bit harsh? Did you sack him??

Man, I thought I was the only one who had to deal with Monkey. Since I've
joined up I've had to scan so many 1.44s it just wasn't funny.
Complacency is a wonderful thing.

Next we'll be seeing a re-emergence of Satan and TPVO.

Oh yeah, to answer hlam's question, you don't need the actual program. Even
an old Dr Solomon's rescue diskette will do the trick. Provided of course
it isn't to old and that your 1.44 still works.

Have a nice one.

Kind regards,

Ka Kwok
