Whenever I first boot up my computer, my monitor will not
turn on, but the LED light does. It first turns green,
like it's coming on, then it turns orange like it is
going into standby, then turns off completely. Can anyone
help me solve this problem?

Try an updated driver from the card or chip manufacturer's WEBsite. If
results are poor, ROLL BACK to the prior driver. If you are unfamiliar
with this process, it's best left to someone who is.

Are you even getting to seeing anything on the screen? e.g. BIOS messages,
Windows start up ?

If the latter, try booting into VGA Safe mode (Hit F8 during the initial
setup)

No, like I said, the lights come on and then they turn
off. I do manage to turn it off and on a few times and
get it to work. The computer itself boots up just fine. I
did forget to mention that I bought a new video card
thinking my old one was going out. I'm beginning to think
my monitor may be going bad. It was a refurbished model
when I got it. Other than that, I'm not sure what the
problem could be.

If the led on the monitor goes completely off - your monitor is defective.
Recheck the power cord where it plugs into the back of the monitor to make
sure it is fully pushed in.
I have tried a few Factory Refurbished products with the crappy 3 months
warranty - They must have a timer installed inside ! Shortly after the 3
months - Its junk.

If it was working before the card replacement, you may want to verify the
monitor by (unfortunately) putting the old card back in, otherwise you
should try another monitor.

Sorry.

I'm having the same problem. I know my monitor is working
because I used it on a different computer earlier today.
Do you have any other ideas?

What changed on your PC before it started failing?

What card are you using?
Does your computer have any onboard video?

I have exactly the same problem but I haven't changed
anything except adding the service pack and upgrades from
Microsoft. I know it is a software problem because when I
unplug my monitor it tests fine.At times I can get the
monitor to come on if I open and close the dvd and cd
drawers or crash the computer. At times nothing will work.
I have finally begun to leave my monitor and computer on
at all times but have problems if I have to shut it down
for any reason.I would appreciate any help that anyone
could give me for this problem. I have closed all the
power savings options but that has not helped.
