HI there,

I did a clean install of XP pro now I can't seem to get the monitor to
work.
I boot the computer, it shows the XP Splash screen and all, but once it
tries to get to the desktop, the monitor goes black. I formatted the
computer using a 17" Monitor, but I'm trying to get this to work on a
15" Daytek monitor and it just isn't sucessful.
I tried booting in safe mode and unistalling the display adapter and
monitor, and rebooting again, but still nothing.
Can someone offer me a fix for this?

Thanks,
Carol

At a guess, I'd say you were trying to drive the monitor at a refresh frequency or resolution that it can't handle.
Presumably, when it discovers your Graphics card it reinstalls the driver and sets up the settings you had last.

Try booting in safe mode, then setting to 800x600 60Hz. It should be able to handle that.
