Monitor won't wake up

Greetings. The problem is kind of annoying. If I let the monitors go to
standby mode, just by leaving the computer idle, they turn off as usual; but
when I move the mouse or something to wake up, only the secondary display
re-awakens. To get the other to come alive again I have to restart my
computer. The monitors do work normally with another computer. All
suggestions appreciated ;)

Having a similar issue - running a Dell Latitude D820 laptop and Dell 2407
external display, which I configure to use as my primary display when the
laptop is docked. When I lock the pc or it goes to sleep, when it wakes back
up the external monitor lets me enter my password, but then the video signal
changes and the external display gives an error that the video signal is now
out of range (even though it displayed fine just a second ago). Only way to
get it back is to undock and redock. The really infuriating part is when I
re-dock, the display resolution is changed to 800x600 for both screens rather
than the 1920x1200 that I run at. Any suggestions on solving for this
aggravating video behavior will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
