In using remote desktop between my PC's at home and at
work, I have noticed that neither monitor will shut down
at the time specified in Display Properties/Screen
Saver/Power/Turn Off Monitor after a remote session. In
other words, both monitors are set to shut off after 10
minutes of inactivity. After connecting via Remote
Desktop and then ending the session, the Remote PC's
monitor will no longer shut down automatically. Example:
I connect from work to home, then disconnect. When I come
home at night and leave my PC unattended for 10 minutes,
the monitor flickers at the time it should go into
standby but then comes back. If I go to the power
properties, all looks fine, but I have to actually
reselect the time I want for "Turn Off Monitor" and click
apply for it to shut down automatically again. The same
applies to my monitor at work after connecting from home
to work etc. Has anyone else experienced this? I have
compensated by just hard-powering my monitors off
overnight, but it's a pain to have to keep reapplying the
timeout values if I do want to leave the monitors on and
just have them go into standby.
Thanks.
