Can someone please clarify the difference between flat panel monitors
(analogue) and the more expensive offerings?
Will an MS Office Applications user notice the difference?
Will a CAD draughtsman using AutoCAD notice the difference?
Seems to be a huge range of prices for a "17" or "19" display (not counting
CRTs of course).

TIA

With LCD the following items are important

Contrast ratio: 700:1 is great, 400:1 would appear washed out
Refresh rate: 16ms seems to the the hot spot right now. 25ms should be fine
for anything that doesn't have a lot of action
Interface: DVI vs Analog... Always go DVI when possible. Much less chance
for degraded image on DVI.
Native resolution: 1280x1024 seems to be the normal res for 17" or 19",
1024x768 is common for smaller sizes up to 17".

Pick a price point and then find the best you can within that price with the
above in mind.

Thanks for the insight noozer
The tech talk will be less of a mystery now!
