Monitor Size?

Hi,

Just thought I'd ask and see what the most common size of people's monitors are, possibly I should have created a Poll?

Also, how many people have a dual monitor configuration?

I've just ordered some parts for my first build and have yet to decide on which monitor to purchase. I was thinking of either: -

Samsung SM2033SW 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

or

Samsung SM2233BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I've always had this desire to have a PC with two monitors, but feel that 2 22" monitors might just be a little too much

What do people think?

Regards,

Andrew

I think ya average size is about a 19 now

I would like a bigger screen meself but aint gonna happen until next year when I do my upgrade

Wow 5years already!!

I don't know what the most popular size is, I'd take a guess at 19" for your average home PC user and 22" for a PC gamer.

I think 22" is a good size to aim for as a top range model in that size range is affordable.

I've got two Samsungs, a 22" (Syncmaster2232BW) and a 24" (Syncmaster 245B).

As the 22" is a better quality monitor it is a lot less tiring on the eyes. The 24" actually cost about the same as the 22".

This is something that's not often considered and gives credence to the idea of spending more on a better specced monitor.

In fact I'm thinking of replacing the 24" with a higher quality 22" (Samsung again). I could then use the 24" as a screen to watch movies on with my media PC temporarily until I can afford a TV.

If the idea of a pair of 22" monitors running side by side appeals to you - go for it :thumb: Fabulous setup for spreadsheets and Flight Sims, to name but two instances.

But don't skimp on quality for the sake of quantity.

I've got a 22" display and that suits me fine, because as Flops says it's quite affordable yet bit enough to run games well. Once you go over 22" the price goes up quite steeply.

Dual monitors are fantastic for office work, but if you are using it for gaming it can be quite limiting (except flight sims and some RTS/RPGs that are designed for multi-monitor setups). :thumb:

I've got three 17" they work well for me. Just the right size, I would probably feel bit lost if I had three 22" lol.

I would personally prefer to have two 17" rather than a single 22" It's all down to what people prefer.

If you do eventually use multi-monitors, get ready for glasses lol :p

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies and views, appreciate it :)

Nobody in particular

I've already got glasses, so no expense needed there :)

I've decided to start with one, mainly due to a matter of funding and have decided to go with the Samsung SM2233BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor.

Depending on what money I have left spare at the end of the month, or what overtime is going spare I'll look to buy the second.

The PC will be used for both gaming and work, I appreciate that I wouldn't get much benefit from dual monitors if I was only gaming, but for work I can see hughe benefits.

The card I'm going to be running off is the OcUK GeForce GTX 275 896MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card. This next question might seem a bit strange...

I know the card has 2 DVI connectors, so I can only presume the card is up to the job, or would having two of these be a good idea  :D

Regards

I have one 22" Samsung SyncMaster 225BW for the home computer.

And a 28" Hans G for my own computer. The larger monitor only cost me about $320 which aint bad. :)

Just my SyncMaster 19". Widescreens were a bit pricey and ha no game support when I bought this. Would buy a 22" now.

Yep, and as the card uses DVI-I Dual Link, you'll get better screen resolution and any monitor should work even an old 15" with anolog converter, though, I wouldn't try it over 800x600. ;)

Yep that is one nice screen. Buttons on the side are good and so is the headphone socket. Medal in the post.
