Today I saw a 20 inch wide-screen tft, and it looks the right size for me,
as my 19 inch tft is a bit too high for my taste. However, I noticed that
the vertical resolution is the same, despite the height difference.
Actually the 20 inch and the 22 inch monitors have the same resolution.
Doesn't that mean that text will be too small and difficult to read?
Possibly.
It depends on how good your eyesight, how far away the
monitor is from you, what font size you *need* to use, and
what you're used to.
Your 19" monitor probably has a 1280x1024 resolution which
means a larger dot pitch, larger text than either the 20 or
22" alternatives, though the 22" will be closer to the 19"
dot pitch.
I'm not sure what you find too high about a 19" monitor as
they dont' seen so bad to me but if you don't wish to have a
larger viewing angle vertically then with a 22" you might
find the horiztonal angle then too large.
You ought to go to a store and preview a few of each size,
also changing the font sizes to see if you can accept this
alternative. Since you have just seen a 20" wide-screen, it
would seem like you would already have an impression as to
whether the text was large enough or not.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you can simply scoot
the monitor back on the desk or scoot your chair back a few
inches, whether it be with the 22" or the 19" so I really
don't see the height as an issue at all.
