Hi...When I turned on my system segments of the screen which were normally
white showed patches of bright yellow, like the background for the Windows
2000 Logo. I tried restarting several times but no change.
Yesterday I had for the first time changed my Princeton LCD monitor color
setting from "normal/warm tones" to "enhanced sRGB". I've been trying to
improve the quality of my printing and calibrate my monitor among other
things. It made for a brighter screen with RGB all set to 100% where
previously red was about 63% and blue and green around 50%. Could this
have overloaded the card?
I reset the monitor to my old color settings and it seemed to fix the
problem. Does this sound familiar to anyone? My video card is a Radeon 8500
with digital connection to the LCD. The card is seven years old and the
monitor three. I added a quieter fan and heat sinks to the card maybe
three years ago. How can I isolate the cause between card and monitor?
I don't have another of either for substitution.
If it is typical of an aging card what is today's equivalent of the 8500?
I use it for static graphics work and always liked the image quality. I
haven't kept up with the hardware.
