At the loggin screen (when no one was logged on) the screen saver went on. I wasn't at the computer at the time, but when I came back about an hour later, the screen was black. Tried turning it on and off, checked the wiring connexions, unplugged it from the comp and it didn't do the self-test like the manual said it should. Monitor didn't work when attached to another computer. The monitor I have is the Dell 1702FP Flat Panel Color Monitor.

You've got a dead monitor. If it won't work on a different machine, there
is not much you can do. Does the monitor have some kind of reset button?
Does it indicate that it is getting power? How about the warranty? Is the
monitor still under warranty from Dell? Good luck, but it doesn't sound
good.
