monitor problems

hello people,
got a problem with my kids pc
when switching it on everthing boots up and then the monitor powers down to stand by mode
the pc is on and all fans and lights and drives are working
ive checked all cables and tried another moniter but get the same problem
anyone help?

Does it only do this once you are inside windows? If so, it might be a refresh rate problem causing this.

Keep hitting F8 to go into Safe Mode and then adjust the resolution/refresh rate to something better :)

i dont think i was clear enough, the monitor turns itself onto stand by mode after about 2 seconds of switching on.
i dont even reach post on the monitor

this happened to me with my monitor (old now :o) and i took it to a computer shop and it couldn't be fixed ... i dont think its the EXACT same problem but seems sort oof the same :(

so it has to base unit

have you got intergrated graphics ? can you swap in another graphics card ?

no i dont have intergrated graphics and ill try an older card later

just tried an older card and it began to boot,
it froze on telling me what processer i had,
not sure if it means there is a problem with the cpu or not
