Hi...

I've installed 3 different XP CDs... 2 Home and 1 Pro... on 2 different PCs.
I have a video problem that I need some help with.

PCs have different video adapters; one built-in (Sis), one AGP (Trio)... but
both PCs have IBM G40 monitors. I get video booting (POST), installing from
each CD and even in SAFE MODE later on.

Problem starts during the "last" reboot into normal XP mode and, of course,
during any subsequent NON-Safe Mode session. I get the XP splash with the
revolving "colored dots" and then, as it tries to change video mode to
display the password screen, video goes blank. Like I said, I can get into
Safe Mode (with video) but Device Manager does NOT have a "monitor" line and
I cannot get "Add Hardware" to show a "add monitor" option.

Anyone have any ideas... what to do or where to look? I've tried driver.com
and all I have are these G40s.

Help please... thanks in advance!

Have you tried a different monitor?
I just did a google and it seems to me that the G40 might be
too old for XP. I had a similar problem with a MAG monitor,
boot up was ok but then the screen was all over the place,
very distorted, tried a different monitor and it worked just
fine.
