After I installed Windows 2000 Professional, the display
on my Samsung Syncmaster 900SL monitor is limited to 16
colors and resolution of 800 X 600 or less. Is there a
video adapter or other solution to get my monitor working
correctly again?

Is your monitor listed by name in Device manager? If not, but rather it
says "Default Monitor", then open it's Properties Page and look on the
driver tab. Click the Update Driver button and select the monitor by Brand
and Model. Once done, resolutions and scanning rates that are a combination
of the capabilities of the monitor and video card should now show up.

I don't have to mention that you should look for the latest Win2000 drivers
for your video card?

I have a Toshiba laptop that I just installed Windows 2000
Professional on and I also have the same problem. If you
get a response I would also appreciate this information.

Thanks everybody! My display is now working better than
ever! Access to resolutions up to 1600 X 1200 now (I
tried it :) I'm amazed -- to think I was cursing
Microsoft, Compaq and Samsung.... ;)
