I have been told there is a bug with refresh rates on xp.
It is probably more noticeable in games that seem choppy
at times. Would something like refresh force help and
where can you find it? I have tried increasing from 60 to
85, but anything past 60 makes the screen look like it is
shaking or jittery if that makes sense. I have all of the
xp updates. The monitor works fine and it's a NEC-
Mitsubishi Diamond Point monitor. I did not recall seeing
a driver for it on their web site, only an inf file which
I already have downloaded to make xp recognize the name of
my monitor. I bought the monitor last year and like I
said, it works fine, but somehow need to deal with the
refresh rate. Thanks.

Well, the fact that your screen goes crazy if you set it
higher then 60hz probably means your monitor can't handle
this refresh rate (could also be your video card, if
that's an old one). So that means that you will have to
live with 60hz refresh rate or buy a better
monitor/vidcard.

Was kinda afraid of that on the monitor. It says up
1600x1200 @55 on 85 hertz if that means much. The card is
an Asus Radeon 9800XT.

Why would you want to up the refresh rate on an LCD monitor
from 60 to 85 if it causes it to flicker. Secondly why would you
believe that this is a XP problem.... RTFM

My monitor is a CRT onitor not an LCD. I have been told
by techs and articles that I have read on XP that there is
a bug about the refresh rate being locked to 60 making it
slow, which I never had a problem with on 98, and that
refresh force could solve that and just wanted to get an
opinion about it and about my monitor.
