monitor installing

My monitor is a LG studioworks 900B and on my old computer (win 98) it still works like a charm
Now, with a new computer and XP when I try to install this monitor this is not possible
I do as I am supposed to: monitor - settings - advanced - monitor. There is a monitor icon here, "standard monitor" and to the right of this there is a button. But this button is n o t active!!
What has gone wrong
Or is this simply not the way to go about it

Visit the manufacturer's website to see if they have an INF file for your
model that you can download. After downloading the INF file, right click on
it and select Install.
 
Thanks for the advice. However, I've followed these exact instructions and the problem is, I'm not sure if I was cleare about it
that on... display - settings - advanced - monitor... I'm supposed to click on settings. But the settings button is n o t activated
It's there but I cannot click on it. See my problem

It doesn't read as if you have installed the drivers for your
video card.

Just wanted to thank you for the advices
And say how I solved my problems... I took my computer to the store where I'd bought it
They were quite puzzled over it. But they found out... t h e y had installed the wrong version of the motherboard..
What do you know...
