After a move My desk top came on once and was as normal as it has ever been - then went into apparent hubernation .
The monitor went blank and indicator light went fro green to yellow. On every start the comuter appears to load by sound and lights but the screen never light and goes fro green to yellow lights after 10 seconds.

If you disconnect the monitor cable the screen light with warning window about cable disconnect.

Havwe flashed the bios clock with no help - Thinking of trying restore disks.

That would be standby, not hibernation. A monitor cannot go into a
hibernated state unless the computer is also in hibernation.

Stand by: - A low power state more use on laptops to conserve battery.

Hibernation: - An 'off' state. The contents of the RAM are written to a file
called hiberfil.sys and the system is shut down as though you'd selected
shut down from the start menu.

Usual procedure: -

1) Try monitor on a computer with known working graphics card.

2) Try a known working graphics card in the computer you're using.

If the monitor works on the other system, try reseating the graphics card
(if you're using one - if you're using on-board then you can only try a card
in the AGP). If that doesn't work then replace the card. However, if the
monitor fails to work on the other system, you're looking at a new monitor.
