I hope someone can help me with this. Whenever I try to
reboot my computer after downloads, whatever, the computer
seems to restart but the monitor says "Power save mode in
input 1". I tried changing the power setting, but that
doesn't seem to work. Just had XP installed and HD
reformatted, so there was nothing on HD when it was
installed. I have to turn off the computer manually with
switch in the back, wait about 2 minutes, and then turn
all back on. How can I fix this? It's driving me CRAZY!

What error has caused you to adopt the habit of rebooting after a download?

How old is the monitor? What kind of monitor is it? What kind of connection to
the video card does the monitor have? What kind of video card is in your
computer?

Who formatted your hard-drive and installed XP for you (a friend, or a computer
retailer)? Is all your computer's hardware Windows XP compatible? How do you
have your BIOS Power Configurations set? Is your system ACPI compliant?

Does this error only occur during attempted reboots? Can you use the Windows XP
shutdown sequence (Start >> Turn off computer >> Shut Down) to shut down the
computer and then turn the computer back on with the power button on the front
of the computer)?

The answers to all these questions would be helpful in trying to diagnose your
computer's problem.
