monitor flashing off/on

Hi,
My monitor flashes on/off in IE so changed to Firefox but it still happens.
I have Vista premium with Norton antivirus and firewall. Would this be the
problem? I have just had Vista reinstalled. I have run antivirus and
adaware to check for spyware but all is OK. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Seeing as how you have just reinstalled Vista, reinstall your Video Card's
drivers either from the CD that came with the Card, or at the Manufacturer's
website.

Hi, I don't have a disc so will Google 'Vista video card driver' and see
what happens. The computer is an Acer and they don't give you a disc which
is a pain. Is that what I should do? I did install ffdshow and divx, is
that what you mean? My computer just updated with SP1 so may wait and see
if it's OK now. Thanks

Go to Acer's website, and look up your Model computer for Driver downloads
and updates. Graphics/Video Card Drivers should be there.

It may be graphic driver related, especially if your graphics are 'onboard'
(i.e. a chip on the motherboard rather than a dedicated graphics card). If
you have a dedicated card, such as Nvidia or ATI then it is unusual for
Vista not to have a compatible driver even if it isn't the most up to date.
The best thing to do is visit the Acer site and download the graphic drivers
for your machine and install those to see if that solves the problem.

Hi, Have checked device manager and determined that I have a radeon x1150
series video card. Tried updating driver, no help, still the same! Decided
to roll back driver to see if that helped and problem seems fixed (fingers
crossed!)
