Hi,
My monitor flashes on and off in IE, so downloaded Firefox again but it
still happens. (I have just reinstalled Vista after a virus infection). Have
scanned for any viruses but all is OK. Have also used Adaware to check for
any spyware. Have Norton antivirus and firewall, would this be the problem?
I had AVG prior to this and just the windows firewall.
Can I fix this without installing Vista again?
Thanks

Did you install the proper video drivers after reinstalling Vista?

You see, there are "stupid questions"!

Thanks for your input Sinner, it's just how I think a mature 'expert' would
respond to a query from a senior wanting help! I am sorry that this stupid
woman from Australia would waste your valuable time. I am also sorry that
my question was repeated as I didn't think it had gone. Maybe I should try
another way to have an informed opinion for my problem and not bother with
these newsgroups again.

Well, my response came from a senior (60) that's been reading far too many
of these posts. You are right about one thing, there's help much closer to
home than these newsgroups.

I can understand your using "senior" and "stupid woman" to gain
sympathy from your post, but what's with adding "Australia" to the
list?

Do Australians have an inferiority complex about their country of
origin?

Calm down "old chook"
Can I ask did you [or the installer] use the recovery partion to
reinstall Vista, if so, then the correct drivers would have been
installed,
If this isn't the case go to the Acer web site in OZ and look for
your PC model they will have the drivers for your graphics card
there.
PS don't be discouraged by the "smart arses" you run into here, as
you know I'm sure, there's always one in every family [NG]
