Monitor driving me crazy

Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920
Keeps having spams of rapidly switching itself on & off,
or it just switches off for no apparent reason.
There is an increased tendency to do this when switching
res (default is 1600x1200)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am getting
an increasing urge to put my fist through the screen.

XP Home 2002 sp1
Nvidia GeForce Ti 4600
AMD Athlon XP 2200+

It's faulty, send it to be repaired.
 
Do the fist thingy.

It seems, from your description, that there may be a blown capacitor and
needs professional first aid.

What I might try, to confirm this notion, is to simply disconnect it from
the computer and turn it on. If it continues to go through the throws of
turning itself off and on you have a winner and should take it to the shop
or start looking at that gorgeous 17" Sony LCD display you've been
fantasizing about during shut downs.
Now, if it doesn't do any of this nonsense I'd immediately blame the
graphics card. But that's another piece of hardware.
