I've got a HANNS-G 19" widescreen monitor.. For some reason, in Vista I
can't get it over 1280x1024, it should get 1440x900.

The driver for the monitor is incompatible with 64-bit Vista.

Is there a way I can modify this inf file (it's just a text file with
registry settings) to make it work with 64-bit vista?

What video card are you using?
What video driver are you using?
If it is a nVidia card and you are using the latest beta drivers (96.85) from the nVidia web site,
there is a known problem that this driver does not support 1440x900. However, there is a program
that will enable you to get this resolution. I believe that it is called something like Res Changer,
but I am not sure.

Ah, it is a new nvidia card in this machine.. (Used to have it on an ATI
card in another PC)..

Ok, I'll be patient and wait for an nvidia driver fix, or look for that 'res
changer' tool..

That is odd. I am using an NVIDIA 6150LE on my computer, and it auto-detected
my 19" WD series Acer monitor.
An option is maybe using something like powerstrip that may be able to give
you the video card tweaks.
Another option is, if you are using the RC2 updated drivers for NVIDIA, you
may be able to adjust your monitor properties in the NVIDIA control panel. If
your monitor is anything like mine, it can support 1400 X 900 at 75Hz.
I would say, play with it a while, see what you have.

Hope this helps :-)

Actually, it did help, a little because it got me to investigate further...

My video card, apparently a "GeForce 6200 LE" (I didn't pay attention to
what I bought) only supports, according to 'list all modes', displays up to
1280x1024.

You know, I just threw away the box yesterday.... So much for my 'return
it' options.

You know what's odd.. With Powerstrip, I can set my 1280x1024 monitor up to
1920x1200 or something like that... But my Widescreen monitor which probably
can actually get that resolution, powerstrip won't let me set it above
1280x1024.
