Monitor display goes off and on during boot?

During the bios, every time a new screen appears the monitor's display blacks
out and returns. This happens about four or five times when RAM and Hard
Drives are detected, IDE, SATA and multi boot screen. Other than that, the
system functions normally after Windows appears. It's been happening for the
past two days and can't find loose connections.

Has anyone had this problem?

mine does that all the time.
The real fun is when you have a viewsonic monitor that puts up a
"status message" every time it happens and locks out the display for
several seconds.

Has the system always done this? If not, what has changed
since it started happening?

Just started recently, didn't install anything new.
You might try loading the setup defaults in the bios,
clearing CMOS, and lastly flashing an updated bios.

Even if I was not having any problems for the past year and a half?
However, I am wondering if this is really a problem? So
long as you can keep seeing the screen during the same page
of info, what does it matter if it blanks out for a moment
between different screens?

Called Viewsonic Support to see if other people were reporting the same
problem. Noticed that the flashing only occurs when the system is booted
for the first time. A reboot after the monitor has warmed up displays the
BIOS information without the power button turning from blue to orange while
the screen is going off and on. The technician mentioned that the monitor
might be having problems starting up.

Is this the first sign that I should be shopping for another monitor soon?
Am about halfway through a three year warranty but shipping anything from
Hawaii costs a lot.
