Just got a new PC and got it home. No OS on it or anything. So I am
getting ready to install ... I power it on, get the normal beep, and
don't get any kind of main screen, though the monitor does detect it's
on and goes out of power save mode. Then It sort of flashes and then
nothing on the screen at all.
Frustrating to have spent that and then have nothing on the screen.

Any suggestions? Shouldn't I at least be able to get into BIOS? I can't
see anything.

Check to make sure the videocard is properly seated. Also if its a newer
highend card it probably needs its own power connector, so make sure thats
connected. Also make sure you PSU can handle all your devices, try starting
with just the bare min and work your way up. If all that doesnt work see if you
can get your hands on a known good video card and/or monitor to test if its
your own equipment at fault.
