monitor blowing fuses

dell demension 2400 pc.. monitor comes on when plugged in by itself
and computer powers on but when you plug it in hooked up it blows the monitor fuse...
Two computers in the same house do this..
I dont want to plug it into my monitor untill i check out what is causing that.. if it voltage in house or what? thanks

If you're using the same VGA/DVI lead on each computer it's probably damaged.

If the same thing happens when you try a substitute lead:

1) Monitor VGA/DVI socket is damaged.

2) Monitor has internal fault.

check for bent pins on monitor cable ... really look hard

You mean where plugs into monitor?

There are two leads connected to your monitor.

One plugs into your mains socket.

It's not that one I'm referring to.

I put VGA/DVI as there are two types of connector for connecting video signal lead from monitor to computer - VGA & DVI. You didn't state what yours was.

Try a substitute video lead then report back.

And as Mucks said - check for bent pins.
