monitor blackout

i need some help...i was noticing yesterday and today that suddenly my screen
would turn really bright then black out completely. the only way to get the
picture back is to turn the monitor off then on again. i dont know what to
do. any suggestions? the computer is only about 5months old and i dont
think it should be doing this.

Maybe the monitor is overheating and then shutting down? If room temp is high
or if airflow is blocked from the CRT, fix the temp or airflow; else, contact
the company that sold you the monitor (or the PC of which it is a part) and
ask for help.

Note that CRTs generate more heat than LCDs and so are more in need of air.
