This isn’t not a major problem, more of an annoyance

I have very recently purchased a brand new Dell flat screen from Aria, works great apart from when i boot up and sometimes when i play games, what happens is there are green lines and dots that appear on my screen when the "hardware accelerator" is being access, for e.g. when i load up Rome Total War.
Now i can normally very easily resolve the problem by resetting my monitor and/or restarting the PC, once working with the Asus 6600 gt it looks great, but i hope the problem does not get worse as its all brand new kit!

I'm on a max Res of 1280 by 1024 @ 75 Hz if i go to 60 Hz the green dots and lines get worse even in windows.
In windows it never happens at 75 Hz, only when I play games or say full screen windows media player

I’m on DVI input/output and last night I wiggled round all the cables to see if that worked (Everything is very stiff too – as with new kit) but this seemed to have a positive effect.

So I was hoping to share then problem to see if anyone had any ideas, am not too worried but I really hope the problem does not get out of hand and I find out its Hardware or something, but i doubt its internal as the graphics card worked find with my old very standard Monitor

I have a few ideas myself - Change to the Analogue input

Re-install direct x (DXDIAG also gets green dots and line)

Try another graphics cards (Problem is I’m the first one of my mates to upgrade to PCI-E, so I don’t know anyone with a card that fits yet!)

Hope ya all can help

I had a similar problem with my office LCD screen which has both DVI and Analog input. I use the LCD connected to my laptop which is docked to a station and everything gets connected to it, external Philips LCD monitor, Plextor CD Writer, printer etc. I was getting these patches in different colours and at times the whole screen was messed up and I was unable to work on it. Restart was the only alternative. This used to happen once in a week and finally progressed to about two or three times a day

I also tried to change the cables from DVI to Analog thinking it would be a connecter or cable issue but it did not solve the problem for me.

Finally I sent it out to Philips service guys who returned the monitor two days later with everything looking new and shiny and the problem no longer there.

You probelm could also be assiciated with the monitor (my guess) based on what I went through. IF yours is still in warranty I would suggest have it checked or replaced.

The monitor was bought more than 2 years back and since it carried a 3 year manufacturer warranty, I was not charged anything by Philips to fix it. Great monitors and great service, that is what we consumers expect from any manufacturer. Philips delivered! :)

Changing to the analogue input if you can do that would eliminate some of the DVI timing problems - its worth a check :)

I'll give that a go Ian n let you know

It has a 1 yr return to base warranty, if the problem persists i shall certainly let Aria know and send it back

Mmm, it’s still making that green (almost matrix style) lines up and down the screen on boot up, but for games and everything else (Once in winodws) it’s perfect?

Do you think it’s worth me sending the monitor back?

In Direct x diagnostic, the 3D test for direct 3d 7 and 8 have these annoying green lines - direct 3d 9 is fine?

Hope you can help
