Moniter "Dead Zone"

My Acer laptop has a white triangle in the corner of the screen (20%).
Nothing appears or works in this dead zone. Acer support keeps asking
questions, but only gives basic ideas like "restart" or repower,
etc., I haven't added any programs or encountered any problems,etc.,
It just appeared a week ago. Everything seems to work, but that lower
right hand corner is "dead."

It probably has nothing to do with Windows, but. . .

Is the dead zone there as soon as you turn the notebook on? If you go into
BIOS, does the whole screen show? If 'no', then you have a dead spot on your
LCD panel and the only fix is a replacement. Do a Google search for your
particular model and see what a replacement LCD costs. It may be cheaper in
the long run to buy a new laptop. If it is still under warranty, get an RMA
from Acer and send it back for repair. If you go that route, make sure you
do a complete backup of your hard drive since the first thing any of the
companies do is wipe it and start over.

Thanks for the info. I actually could live with just that corner being
unusable on this machine, but what is the chance that area will
enlarge?

Thanks for the info. I actually could live with just that corner being

Chances are eventually the whole thing will die (everything does), but how
far down the road it will happen is anyone's guess. Personally, though, if
1/5 of my screen was dead, it would bug the heck out of me.

If it's under warranty, get it replaced. The screen is pretty much the
most expensive component of a laptop. At worst, you might have to take
it to a service center to have them look at and confirm that the display is
defective.
